This week, our study mainly discussed the brief of the cooperative project and centered on how to use speculation reasonably and appropriately in reflective thinking. I think the most essential thing in the project is to master teamwork and reimaging. In addition, we should also do sufficient research (primary and secondary research) to show it.
(Speculation: How we tell the story)

Our project is based on group work and will speculate on the future of work by looking at the problems in the present and past. In the first week of study, after everyone had an in-depth explanation from the instructor, everyone completed a personal summary. Finally, everyone’s summary was combined into a 200-word summary to ensure everyone understood our projects.
My summary of the brief:
【In this project, we can work with our team members to present speculative imaginations based on the current research in any way – to reimagine and adopt the future world. As we delve into this project, we must consider its essence and definitions (environmental and climate crises, social justice and ethics, technology and current systems use, and human and non-human subjects in ecology). We will also conduct in-depth research and testing on the project (there can be many testing methods: random interviews on the road, questionnaires, etc., but interacting with others can provide a deeper understanding of others’ true thoughts). This is used to achieve a feasibility plan for the project.】
Case study:
Workspace: Selfridges (Retailing)
What Happen:
Through observation, I discovered that there may be some shortcomings in the working environment at Selfridges, including workspace issues:
- Crowding and Congestion: Selfridges’ workspace can feel crowded and congested as a busy retailer, leading to a crowded and uncomfortable work environment.
- Noise and bustle: Selfridges workspaces may experience high noise levels due to the high volume of customer and employee activity. This can interfere with employee concentration and communication, making work more challenging.
- Workspace restrictions: Since Selfridges is a retailer, there may be some restrictions in terms of workspace. Employees need to share desks, don’t have enough storage space, or have limited work areas.
- Limited rest areas: Selfridge Workspace may lack spacious and comfortable rest areas, and employees may be unable to relax and recover during breaks. This may affect employee job satisfaction and mental state.
- Lack of natural light: Selfridge Workspace is located inside a shopping mall and may be unable to take full advantage of natural light. A lack of natural light can have a negative impact on employee mood and concentration.
