This week’s study was mainly about checking for omissions and filling in gaps. During the weekend, each of us did research in different directions (animal as food/animal waste/animal on therapy/animal work labor). On Monday, we first communicated with each other the results of our founding during the weekend. The section I was assigned was animal waste. I introduced the advantages and disadvantages of animal waste and how to improve it in the next 10 years.

In Monday’s class, our tutor Miss Diana told us that we need to do more research to complete our project (Co-worker relationship / India Monkey as a worker / Define EDI / finding the solutions for funding / Food serving in city farm). My focus is on finding the funding solutions. Because the biggest problem facing City Farm is the lack of funding, the main groups of the current City Farm are residents living nearby, children in school with their families, and there are not particularly many people in the City Farm café during the noon time. Because what we need to create is a scenario that combines a farm and an office area, my idea is to add office workers to the target market and do some lunch box promotion for them. It’s a win-win situation, the office workers get lunch at a discounted price and the city farm also can get financial support.

During the group meeting on Tuesday, we shared our ideas and created a PowerPoint together. Because there is not much technological support in the city farm, we adopted Low-Tech ideas when making the PowerPoint. All the pictures in the PowerPoint were shot by our team members on three city farms.

After we briefly discussed the current progress with Miss Diana on Wednesday, we found that we still have big problems. The presentation we produced is not coherent and logical. We should put more evidence because we did do a lot more than we showed in the slides. We made a lot of changes that day. After the rectification, we rehearsed the presentation script repeatedly to ensure that everyone completed it within the limited time.
Thursday!!! Time for presentation!

ALL TUTORS gave a very good evaluation of our presentation, and I am very grateful to work with my group members! My team members and I deeply explored the city farm and conducted a series of in-depth research on it. Learning to communicate effectively (maintaining quality communication) makes our learning process always pleasant and smooth. My biggest gain is that I learned how to find directions for improvement in mistakes. This is not only a project to speculate the future, but also a project to inspire and change our thinking.
