I used the time of self-study to think about the research field I want to develop in the future, and made a plan during that time. I want to work on content related to fashion history, and in the next period of time, I will apply for a related master’s degree or work in a related job. So during this period of time, I read the book “The mode in Costume – A Historical Survey with 202 plates”. This book is actually connected to the project I am currently working on in a sense. If we dig deep into the content about cultural appropriation, we will find that it is closely related to history.

When I was about to finish reading, I tried to make a simple collage based on some of the more special fashion items in the book and modern fashion items that borrowed from these elements. Many modern fashion shows often draw inspiration from classic elements of the past, recreate and borrow from them. This design method not only combines history with modernity under the premise of cultural appreciation, but also injects new vitality into fashion. When “retro elements” are combined with contemporary craftsmanship, tailoring, fabrics, and colors, this is not only a tribute to classic culture, but also an interpretation of the continuous evolution of fashion.
