My tutor Mark has always told me that my framework is the core of my project. If I present the framework reasonably, my project will be complete. I have been struggling with how to make a good framework because I need to learn about it. I have been modifying my framework in every weekly tutorial and constantly improving it during this period. The following pictures show how I change my framework in the past few weeks.
At first, I don’t think I fully know what a framework is? How should I present it? How should the framework convey information effectively? Even whether I need to put pictures or other factors. I made some references to other people’s framework cases. I concluded that a reasonable framework could be binding, and it provides good guidance for how to execute it later (for example, my theme, how to achieve better cultural appreciation and avoid cultural appropriation, has a clear distinction, and everyone can better understand the difference between the two). In addition, the framework should be flexible and can adapt to various fields (just like my framework is not only applicable to fashion-related fields but also to other fields). This took me a long time to rebuild.

Framework Process:

Final Version:
- Constrain everyone’s understanding and respect for culture:
My framework mainly lists how to reasonably display when completing research/projects/works on cultural topics. What steps should be taken? The most important thing is the different results of cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation caused by these steps (if the cultural appreciation content on the left does not meet the standards, cultural appropriation on the right will occur).
It mainly emphasizes enhancing the ability of fashion industry practitioners to reproduce ethnic cultural elements accurately from the perspective of cultural appreciation. This will become a toolkit for everyone to improve the cultural appreciation ability of stakeholders and effectively reduce unintentional cultural appropriation. My research also indirectly proves the importance of cultural education and its wide impact.

- Verify the effectiveness of this framework through actual operation (explain cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation to myself and the 2025 fashion photography related students):
This is more like a framework for how I test by implementing this framework and strictly following its steps to complete the pre-shooting preparation and post-shooting work. Especially when working with different people in the fashion industry, they also begin to pay more attention to and respect the uniqueness of other cultures.
This framework explains in detail every step photography students must take when preparing for cultural-related projects. The yellow boxes indicate steps and what needs to be done, and the red boxes indicate that if the corresponding steps are not completed, you need to go back to the previous step and review it again. The guidelines of this framework have a strong binding force. If you read it before shooting and strictly follow this structure to complete it, you can effectively avoid cultural appropriation.
